Soto: Title sequence

This title sequence was made for a fictional western drama I created called Soto. I utilized a collage style of different aspects and themes throughout the show to convey the plot as well as loosely guide the viewer from beginning to ending events.

Design Objective: To create a title sequence representative of the themes and plot, interest the viewer further, and create a unique aesthetic that can be attributed to Soto.

plot

In Summary, Ruby Soto has been appointed as the new intermittent sheriff of the town, Coyote Springs, due to her father’s (the previous sheriff) passing. The townspeople are wary of Ruby as she is well known throughout the town of being a bit wild. Ruby throughout the story must gain her town’s trust by solving a local murder and taking down the gang, The Scorpions, that is looking for a precious relic buried beneath the town.

moodboard

The idea behind the title sequence for Soto was to maintain the traditional aspects of a western, while still showing that the show is a modern piece. I wanted to utilize a stark contrast between the pinks and grays to drive home the importance and strength of femininity that is in the show.

design process

Using photos from free websites, I found aspects of the show I wanted to represent and began putting them in a collage style. I began to create the aesthetic that would be associated with the show.

motion editing

Editing, I worked on making the type dynamic yet legible as well as the pacing of switching the scenes.
